Insurance

Nashville Emotional Wellness (NEW) Counseling is primarily a private pay practice that also accommodates out-of-network billing for all clients and in-network billing for a select few insurance companies. Out of network billing allows clients to file directly with their insurance provider while the select insurance companies we are in network allow access for individuals who would otherwise be unable to access care. Reasons we limit the insurance companies we are in-network with include:

Maintaining Confidentiality - Not taking insurance allows support and services to be provided to clients that maintain confidentiality. When a client decides to enter into a counseling relationship they do so with the understanding that everything shared between them and the therapist is confidential. When an insurance company is involved, that confidentiality is difficult to maintain as insurance companies require information of a confidential nature including diagnosis and treatment plans as well as symptoms and behavior related to diagnosis. The information shared with insurance companies goes into a clients permanent medical record which can limit their ability to control medical information.

Desire for Autonomy - Not taking insurance honors clients right for autonomy and self determination. Insurance companies have the right to refuse or limit the types of treatment, amount paid for treatment as well as the number of sessions available for a client. This decreases the autonomy of both the therapist and client in crafting a treatment plan that is in the best interest of the client. In addition, insurance companies require that clients receive a diagnosis in order to receive services. Such diagnosis’ may not always be applicable to client circumstances neither do they always accurately reflect or represent client’s emotional support needs.

Ease - Not taking insurance allows for the focus of energy necessary to assist clients in achieving their mental and emotional wellness goals and outcomes. The requirements and demands of submission of claims, completion of paperwork, authorization and re-authorization for treatment takes away valuable time and energy that could be used in direct contact and service to clients.

IN-NETWORK Billing

Nashville Emotional Wellness (NEW) Counseling accepts a select few insurances to cover client care.

Out-OF-Network billing/Reimbursement

Nashville Emotional Wellness (NEW) Counseling PLLC provides two options for clients interested in using Out of Network (OON) benefits. NEW clients can opt to file for OON reimbursement either through courtesy billing or superbill billing. With courtesy billing, NEW completes all requirements for billing on clients behalf and files directly with the insurance provider. With the superbill option, NEW provides documentation necessary to assist clients in obtaining reimbursement for services directly from their insurance companies through client submission. Clients are able to access paid invoices and superbills via the client portal at any time by using their secure portal username and password. *Nashville Emotional Wellness (NEW) Counseling neither guarantees nor approves reimbursement for treatment by insurance companies. Questions about out-of-network coverage and benefits should be directed to insurance carrier. All fees for services are the responsibility of the client and due at the time of services.

sliding fee scale/Reduced rate scale

reduced rate scale
